The Willamette Blocks is a four building development in South Waterfront, designed by architects Hensley Lamkin Rachel for developer Alamo Manhattan. The northern two buildings, between S Lane and S Abernethy, have been submitted for building permit review.

3000 Powell has been submitted for a Type III Design Review by Holst Architecture:

3000 Powell is a proposed affordable multi-family dwelling structure with approximately 206 units and 28 parking spaces. Additionally the project proposes a new multi-use path connecting SE 30th
Ave. through the site to SE 31st Ave.

A project with two buildings at NW 25th and Vaughn has been submitted for building permit review by Milbrandt Architects:

Blocks 41 and 42 of the Willamette Blocks at 3510 S Bond Ave have been submitted for building permit review:

A building permit was issued to Studio 3 Architecture for a project at 1550 N Buffalo St (previously 7156 N Greenwich Ave):

New 3 story, 18 units multifamily apartment building with associated site works. Trash enclosure attached to building.

A building permit was issued to Doug Circosta Architect for Findley Commons at 3440 SE 54th Ave:

FINDLEY COMMONS – New construction of 20 apartment units + 15 group living units in one (1) three-story building. A building permit was issued for a project at 4928 NE 29th Ave (previously 2904 NE Alberta St):

A building permit is under review for Ethos Development’s Society 42 apartments.

Early Assistance has been requested for a renovation and addition to the University of Portland Physical Plant Building:

Complete renovation of the Physical Plant building that will also include an extensive addition. A pedestrian plaza will replace the existing upper parking lot and connect to the main campus quad east of Shiley Hall. A few heritage trees will be preserved to help define public outdoor space. A new outdoor plaza space will be created on the west side of the building to support student project space and provide on grade access to Level 2. A new building mounted canopy is planned to create covered outdoor work space ouside the Adaptable Large Projects spaces on Level 1, on the north side of the building. Demolish much of Level 3 of the existing building and then expand it and build a new Level 4 on top. A new parking garage is proposed to be located along the west bluff, and will incorporate four levels of teired parking (accommodating 208 standard size parking stalls and 9 ADA sized stalls. This building also includes storage, electrical, and mechanical rooms on the lowest level.

A Pre-Application Conference has been scheduled by Koble Creative Architecture to discuss a project at 232 NE 97th Ave:

A Pre-Application Conference to discuss construction of a ten-story, 309,060 square foot mixed use building. There are approximately 317 residential units and 3,565 square feet of ground floor commercial space. A proposed new public street, NE Davis Street, would run east/west along the southern edge of the property. Below grade structured parking is proposed with 119 spaces. The access to the parking is from NE Davis.

The Broadway Corridor redevelopment has been submitted for a Type III Central City Master Plan:

Central City Master Plan with an adjustment requested to required active use zones on Lovejoy and Hoyt Streets.

Findley Commons at 5415 SE Powell Blvd has been submitted for a Type III Conditional Use Review:

100-day Review Timeline. The applicant is proposing to construct a new residential structure that includes 20 multi-family units and 15 group living units and will reduce the parking area on the site from 50 spaces to 34 spaces. The applicant is also seeking a lot confirmation to establish four existing legal lots that would compose (and create) a discrete area for the residential project. Parking would be shared between the residential and church uses.

The Society 42 apartments at NE 42nd & Prescott have been submitted for building permit review by Koble Creative Architecture:

New 3 story apartments containing (3) dwelling units; (1) on each floor with (6) sleeping units on the main level; sleeping units have access to cooking facility in main level dwelling unit; interior trash enclosure; associated site work to include patio, landscaping and storm water management; no on site parking; new retaining wall along west and south property line

Weekly Roundup: PUC Affordable Housing Initiative, Raleigh Slabtown, Orchards of 82nd, and more

Portsmouth Union Church Affordable Housing
Portsmouth Union Church intends to build 20 units of affordable housing on their N Lombard St property.

An article published at Medium wrote about the PUC Affordable Housing Initiative at 4775 N Lombard. Portsmouth Union Church is one of 435 faith based organizations in Portland with property that could be used for affordable housing.

Portland is taking another look at low-rent SRO hotels to ease its housing problems, writes the Oregonian. While many private SRO units have been lost in recent years, the Portland Housing Bureau plans on funding the redevelopment of the Westwind Apartments in Old Town and construction of Findley Commons on SE Powell.

The Orchards of 82nd (previously known as the ROSE/APANO Affordable Mixed Use) opened in February and now houses 47 families, writes Metro News.

The Daily Journal of Commerce looked at the construction of Raleigh Slabtown, which is employing a prefabricated wall-panel system.

The Portland Tribune wrote about how state law makers are building the political foundation for a series of housing bills.

According to the Portland Housing Bureau, Findley Commons will redevelop parking lot space at St. Mark’s church to create 38 units of Supportive Housing focused on underserved veterans.

Early Assistance has been requested by Doug Circosta Architect for Findley Commons at 5415 SE Powell Blvd:

Findley Commons will provide 36 previously homeless Veterans with safe, stable, and supportive housing with the planned 100% affordable 20, one-bedroom and 16, single room occupancy (SRO) units. The building will feature an elevator, a vast 2,1000 sf community area and service delivery space, and energy efficient appliances and fixtures. the units are in a single building with two and three stories in height. The zoning is CM2 / R2a and the intent is to conform to the Community Design Standards. Parking for the project and the existing church will include 34 spaces. Amenities include onsite laundry facilities, bicycle parking, shared kitchen, support offices, outdoor patio and storage.

A Pre-Application Conference has been scheduled by Scotia Western States Housing for a project at 1325 SW Gibbs St:

The proposed project is a 30-unit multifamily project across approximately 24,000 sf of living space and 4 stories of living space above one level of parking garage on the R-1 portion of the site. Amenity bonuses will be utilized to obtain the full allowable 30 units. The entire multifamily and parking development twill be limited to the existing parking lot area on the R-1 zoned parcel.

The units will be one bedroom units. The R-7 portion of the site wil have the existing improvements (an 8,000 sf assisted living facility) demolished and replaced with 2 duplexes (4 units total). All proposed development will be within the current parking lot/building area and the setbacks will all be within the zoning regulations of the base zones.

A Pre-Application Conference has been scheduled by Doug Circosta Architect for a project at 14507 E Burnside St:

Proposal is for new construction of a four story apartment building which will be approximately 69,500 SF with 76 dwelling units and a new 21 stall surface parking lot. The applicant plans to meet community design standards.

A structural permit was issued to Lever Architecture for the South Building at the Adidas Campus Expansion:

STR 01 – Structure for a new 4-story building (South Building) of mass timber construction built on top of an existing 3-story parking garage. Work includes steel buckling-restrained braced frames, elevator, and stairs at the core of the new building and an OSSC seismic upgrade of the existing parking garage. The existing parking garage also supports two existing buildings (E & F) and is structurally connected to the garage being built to the north under permit #18-188494-STR-01-CO.
