Approval of 5020 Condos Upheld (images)

The Design Commission has upheld the staff level approval of the 5020 Condos, an affordable housing development on N Interstate Ave. The 6-story building, designed by Carleton Hart Architecture, will include 64 family sized units, ground floor commercial space and 14 parking stalls in a tuck under garage. 74 long term bicycle parking spaces will be provided.

The project is being developed in collaboration between Proud Ground and Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East. 2- and 3-bedroom units will be offered for sale at prices between $121,000 – $274,500, and kept permanently affordable through a community land trust.

A Pre-Application Conference has been scheduled by Lever Architecture to discuss the renovation of the Artists Repertory Theater at 1515 SW Morrison St:

Renovation of the existing 18,000sf Artist Repertory Theater (ART) building. The renovation will add new theater, rehearsal, office and support space for ART and a dozen affiliated companies in the ART HUB. The expansion will add a partial second floor and increase the total area to approximately 28,000sf. The existing concrete exterior walls and the east and west bays of existing structure will remain. The central portion of the building will be rebuilt with a higher structure to accommodate a large theater and second floor. The existing covered drive will be infilled with a new main entry and lobby space. The two levels of parking below the main floor will remain. Parking Level 1 will be accessed from an entry in the building along SW 15th Avenue. Parking Level 2 will be accessed from a new entry in the future ART Tower. More than likely – future code -with not a lot of impact to the site/project by the changes: New construction of 30 units of multi-dwelling housing development. This project is to move through the GATR fast-track process with oversight from PHB.
