Early Assistance has been requested for a project at 1445 N Hayden Island Dr:

New single story 6200 sq ft building for retail use, with 45 parking stalls on existing vacant pad. Please see 2015 EA (15-250140).

Early Assistance has been requested for a project at 2626 SE 122nd Ave:

2855 sq ft (60-seat) quick serve restaurant with drive-thru.

Early Assistance has been requested for a project at 5524 SE 82nd Ave:

Proposal is to demolish the existing structures and construct new 4,520sf mini-market and a new 2,970sf canopy over a new quick vehicle service facility with four (4) dispensers. The existing underground storage tanks will remain. New piping for petroleum products. Fueling facility will provide eight (8) vehicle fueling positions, as it does currently.

Early Assistance has been requested by Merryman Barnes Architects for the King Parks Apartments at 6445 Northeast Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard:

Follow up EA – with planner only (Jason) to confirm that this project will meet Community Design Standards. Please note – this is a PHB funded Affordable Housing Project which consists of 70 units of affordable housing (100% of project).

Early Assistance has been requested for a project at 8435 NE Glisan St:

Proposal is for developing a new academic building and would like to update its impact mitigation plan (IMP). The univeristy would like to explore its options under the existing IMP as well as the new campus institutional (CI) zoning district.

Early Assistance has been requested for a project at 13655 E Burnside St:

Looking at purchasing the northern section of this lot to build more units and possibly “connect” it with their current development on R109424. See CO 15-170799.

A project at 1944 SE Tacoma St has been submitted for Type II Design Review by Works Progress Architecture:

New construction 3-story multi-family development comprissed of (12) units. This is not affordable housing. (9) standa4rd parking spaces are provided and (31) bicycle parking spaces. Solar arrays are proposed for south facing roof slopes.

A project at 3024 SW Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy has been submitted for Type II Environmental Review:

Developing three lots with five duplexes, one tri-plex, and one four-plex. The existing single family home to remain. Also constructing a water quality facility in public ROW, which is in the “c” overlay. Please note there has been a Public Works Alternative Review for this development (see PW 16-122770).

A development at 7447 N Mohawk Ave has been submitted for building permit review by Crescent Custom Homes:

Construct new 2-story 4 unit condominium building, 2 units on main floor and 2 units on 2nd floor with 2 attached trash rooms and bike rack area, and associated site work – building 1

A building permit was issued to Siteworks Design Build for a project at 1120 SE Madison St:

Shell permit – addition-alteration of existing building w/ partial basement structure. Upgrade to meet ASCE41. No occupancy this permit. Buildout of common core space and second floor addition. New windows, doors, skylights, roof. Row upgrades, parking and roof deck and landscape improvements

A building permit was issued to Robert Evenson & Associates for a project at 702 SW Broadway Dr (previously 664 SW Grant):

Construct new 3 story, 5 unit apartment building, no parking, includes associated site work, sloped lot 6/7/2016 a johnson: note that plan set shows address as 644 SW Grant, which is about 1 mile from 702 sw broadway. Emailed permit-tech for clarification/correction.

A building permit was issued to Deca, Inc for a project at 15075 SE Stark St (previously 15023 SE Stark St):

New 3 story 40 unit apartment building, site improvements, stormwater facility, and 21 stall parking lot.

Architect magazine released its top 50 firms of the year, with Portland-based ZGF Architects in the #1 place. Also on the list from Portland was Hacker, at #13. In the design rankings of nationwide firms Works Partnership came in at #5, ZGF at #7 and Hacker at #17.

A single story commercial building at SW 12th & Morrison is about to be demolished, reports the Portland Business Journal. The building will make way for the 1127 SW Morrison office building.

The DJC reported on how “Sellwood growth stirs residents“*. Projects planned or under construction in the neighborhood include Spokane.137119 SE Milwaukie, Galaxie Lofts and Sellwood Bridgehead.

Knot Springs Spa & Fitness has opened in the Burnside Bridgehead tower Yardaccording to the Portland Business Journal. The 11,500 sq ft facility “offers monthly memberships as well as services by appointment”.

The Oregonian reported that ‘Top Chef’ finalist Doug Adams will be opening a restaurant named Bullard in The Woodlarkthe Downtown hotel that be created in the Hotel Cornelius and Woodlark building. Existing business Johnny Sole, currently located at the site, will close according to the Portland Business Journal.

City Observatory asked if inclusionary zoning in Portland is “a good way to provide more affordable housing, or will it actually worsen the constrained housing supply that’s a big cause of higher rents?”

The Portland Business Journal wrote that the Portland Development Commission has agreed to spend a further $1 million to demolish the feed mill building at Centennial Mills. Current plans still envision the retention of the iconic flour mill.

An investigation by The Oregonian covered how Commissioner Saltzman withdrew the award of city owned land and funding for Meta Housing’s Creators Collective project, and instead gave it to Portland Community Reinvestment Initiatives Inc, for their King Parks project.

The Abigail, the latest affordable housing development in the Pearl, had a grand opening on Friday. The 155-unit apartment building includes 128 units for families making between 30 and 60 % of area median family income.

Places over Time wrote about the latest iteration of 5 MLK in “How I Learned to Stop Being and Architect and Design by Committee.”

The Foster Powell blog wrote about the 131 Units of Housing Coming to Foster at 5811 SE Boise, with more on the way at other sites.

The Portland Business Alliance endorsed the city’s affordable housing bond as an “important part of the equation to address housing affordability in Portland,” reports the Portland Business Journal.
