PSU Neuberger Hall Renovation receives Design Advice (images)

A major renovation of Portland State University’s Neuberger Hall has gone before the Design Commission to receive Design Advice. The project is being designed by Hacker architects, and includes a complete interior renovation designed to address significant deferred maintenance. Significant alterations will also be made to the exterior envelope of the building, much of which is currently failing.

Design Commission approves PSU Viking Pavilion (images)

The Design Commission has approved designs for a remodel of the Portland State University Peter Stott center, which will include the creation of the new Viking Pavilion. The project by Woofter ArchitectureSink Combs Dethlefs Architects and Lango Hansen Landscape Architects will create a new multi-purpose arena with seating for 3,400 people in the heart of the PSU Campus. As reported in March of last year, the building will also be used by OHSU, who are contributing part of the funding. Other functions to be located in the building include new classroom space, offices, a cafe and a student lounge. 62 short-term bike parking spaces will be provided. No vehicular parking is proposed.

PSU School of Business Administration expansion approved by Design Commission (images)

The Design Commission has approved a major renovation and expansion of the PSU School of Business Administration. The project design is by the Boston office of German firm Behnisch Architekten, with local architects SRG Partnership and landscape architects Mayer Reed. The project will involve the modernization and upgrade of the existing building on the south half of the block, and the addition of a new 36,000 sq ft structure on the north half of the block. Between the two will be a new glass atrium, with entrances from plazas on SW 6th Ave and SW Broadway.

The PSU School of Business Administration had its first Design Advice hearing in front of the Design Commission on January 15th. The project is a renovation and expansion of the existing building, which is currently occupied by the School of Business Administration and the Graduate School of Education. The project architectural design is by the Boston office of German firm Behnisch Architekten with Portland-based SRG Partnership. The landscape architects are Mayer Reed.
