Every week, the Bureau of Development Services publishes lists of Early Assistance applications, Land Use Reviews and Building Permits processed in the previous week. We publish the highlights. This post covers March 8th, 2021 to March 14th, 2021.
Early Assistance has been requested for a project at 5911 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd:

A Pre-Application Conference has been scheduled by TVA Architects to discuss a project at 1018 SW Morrison St:
This proposal is for a 6-story core and shell building with approximately 70,000 SF total, and a maximum height of 75 feet. On-site car parking is not required and is not proposed. Long and short term bike parking is required and will be provided. Retail space is proposed at ground level, with B-occupancy office space on levels 2-6. Stormwater will be managed on-site via an eco-roof.
The Prose Apartments at the 400 Block of N Tomahawk Island Drive have been submitted for a Pre-Permit Plan Check:
Five-story multifamily housing complex totaling approx. 280 units with approx. 370 surface parked stalls.

A building permit was issued to Salazar Architect for Las Adelitas at 6735 NE Killingsworth St:
LAS ADELITAS -New 4 story affordable multi family building. The building is 3 stories type VA construction over 1 story type IA construction. Stormwater disposal is through (2) on-site drywells. The building has 143 living units over community and residential services space and parking. 65 parking stalls provided at the ground floor. **Review with 20-148032-MT
A building permit was issued for a project at 6942 N Montana Ave:
New 3 story apartment building with 18 units
Ooh! I live near 2440 N Lombard! I hope the project happens!
The 1018 SW Morrison office building proposal appears to be on the corner footprint of the L-shaped one story retail building that is home to Habibi, Maya’s Taqueria, and Momo’s, as well as some retail storefronts. While it is not surprising to see the site redeveloped because the building is by no means historic, it will be a loss to see those small businesses on that block removed. From SW 10th to 11th along Morrison is an active interesting line of storefronts that would delight Jane Jacobs.
Yes we need to heed Jane’s insight a little more !!!
