Terwilliger Plaza Parkview Building
A new skybridge would extend over SW 6th Ave, linking the existing Terwilliger Plaza building to their proposed Parkview Building.

The Recommend Draft of the Residential Infill Project had its first hearings in front of City Council last week. Advocates asked City Council to go further, and create options for six-plexes and eight-plexes if they are affordable, writes OPB.

A proposal for a skybridge that will link Terwilliger Plaza to their new Parkview Building received a thumbs up from the Design Commission*, reports the Daily Journal of Commerce. The final decision on the skybridge will be made by City Council.

Portland Public Schools wants to remake three high schools, writes the Oregonian. Initial concepts have been developed for Wilson High School, Jefferson High School and Cleveland High School.

Portland Architecture published the second part in a series about the best architecture of the 2010s.

The skybridge proposed as part of the Terwilliger Plaza Parkview Building at 2436 Southwest 6th Avenue has been submitted for a Type III Review:

Terwilliger Plaza submits this application for one encroachment in the public right-of-way over SW 6th Avenue. The skybridge is an integral element of Terwilliger Plaza’s expanding continuing care facility located on one contiguous site on both sides of SW 6th Avenue. The skybridge will span SW 6th, connecting the existing continuing care facilities on the west of SW 6th Avenue to the expanded facilities and units on the east side of SW 6th Avenue. The skybridge is a critical element of Terwilliger Plaza’s continuing care program.

A building permit was issued to Ankrom Moisan Architecture for the Hyatt Unbound at 245 SW Salmon St:

New 21 story hotel, 180,000 gross sq ftl with 250 guest rooms, ground floor retail, conference center, gym, groundfloor restaurant, bar/market, support spaces and rooftop restaurant and bar. Total project consists of 21 stories of Type 1 construction with one basement level. For reference set R2 6th floor

The Terwilliger Plaza Parkview Building will be located across the street from the existing building, and include a skybridge over SW 6th Ave.

A resident-run retirement community is planning a $100 million expansion, reports the Oregonian. The Terwilliger Plaza Parkview Building will rise to 10 stories and include 127 one- and two-bedroom apartments.

Live Nation is in talks with the Zidell family to build a 10,000-seat performance venue in South Waterfront, according to the Oregonian.

Turner Construction is rushing to complete work* on the Providence Park Expansion in time for the Portland Timbers’ home opener on June 1, reports the Daily Journal of Commerce.

Prosper Portland has selected the “Play” concept for the Broadway Corridor, writes the Oregonian. The concept would see the former post office “replaced with sports fields and basketball courts flanked by high-rises.”

A proposed bill in the Oregon legislature aims to create more lower priced condominium units. Developments that go through a more stringent envelope inspection would see the period for lawsuits reduced from 10 years to six, and require approval from a majority of homeowners to initiate a lawsuit.

The 101 affordable apartments at 72 Foster are now complete. The Daily Journal of Commerce published photos of the development, which has an “intergenerational focus.”

The Business Tribune wrote about how at The Canyons developer Ben Kaiser is creating a “community with no limits on age or accessibility.”

The Ankeny Apartments have been submitted for building permit review. In a rare action the project was denied by the Design Commission in February 2017. The denial was appealed to City Council, who ultimately approved a revised design in August 2017.

Proposal is to build a skybridge to adjoin two buildings: Terwilliger Plaza a retirement community and a new building located between SW 6th Ave and SW 5th Ave between SW Caruthers and SW Sheridan St. The proposed building is identified as the Parkview Building on the site plans.

The Meyer Memorial Trust Headquarters at 2045 N Vancouver Ave has been submitted for a Type II Adjustment Review by Lever Architecture:

The project consists of a three-story urban office building in Portland, OR. The site i slocated on N Vancouver Ave and bounded by Tillamook St and Interstate 5. The building will be used as the headquarters for Meyer Memorial Trust. The building includes surface parking behind the bulding and an outdoor courtyard and patio.
