The Historic Landmarks Commission has approved a major renovation of the Medallion Apartments, a 6-story, 90-unit affordable housing development in Northwest Portland owned by Home Forward. The renovation is being designed by Holst Architecture, and will include new cladding, glazing, and roofing, as well as changes to the site and landscaping. 10 existing vehicular parking spaces will remain. 5 new short term bicycle parking spaces will be added at the ground level, and long term bicycle racks added to the units.

The Pepsi Blocks Planned Development project includes the phased demolition of existing Pepsi warehouse buildings, renovation of a mid-century Pepsi warehouse bow-truss structure, the development of five new mixed use market rate and affordable residential and office buildings, th introduction of a shared woonerf street along the formerly vacated Right-of-Way, a new Plaza along Sandy Boulevard and a new Park located in the center of development, and associated underground parking. The phasing schedule envisions entitlements and construction of the first phase immediately following Planned Development approval and will continue with four additional phases. The project will use the Planned Development Bonus for additional height and bonus FAR.

A design review application has been approved for Halsey 106, a new mixed use, mixed income building in the Hazelwood neighborhood. The Holst Architecture-designed building will be located directly adjacent to the recently opened Gateway Discovery Park, and will include 40 units of affordable housing and 35 units of market rate housing. At the ground floor the building will include approximately 10,000 sq ft of retail space, fronting onto NE Halsey St and the new plaza. The building’s owner/developer Human Solutions will occupy 10,000 sq ft of office space at the second floor. 54 vehicular parking spaces and 94 long term bicycle parking spaces will be provided.

The redevelopment of Kellogg Middle School at 6909 SE Powell Blvd has been submitted for a Type III Conditional Use Review:

Redevelop the entire Kellogg Middle School site. Demo existing structures and remove the debris. Development of vacant field since the property will then be graded and reseeded in anticipation of the redevelopment of the site in spring 2019. A Pre-Application Conference has been scheduled to discuss the Portland River Center on the OMSI campus:

A Pre-Application Conference to discuss construction of the Portland River Center. This facility will be operated by The Portland Boathouse, a non-profit organization. The facility will contain boat storage and staging areas, educational classrooms, a small office, workout spaces with showers and restrooms, and interior and exterior river-viewing areas. The building will have 29,000 square feet of floor area in a two story building and is located partially in the Willamette Greenway Setback.
