The 23-story Hyatt Place and Allison Residences returned in front of the Design Commission last week for a second hearing, where the record was left open to allow more written testimony to be submitted.

Popular sneaker shop Compound Gallery is relocating to the 10th & Yamhill Smart Park—despite city policies to encourage retail in Old Town / Chinatown, reports Willamette Week.

The Portland Business Journal looked at Central City Concern’s plans for the redevelopment of the Westwind Apartments in Old Town. The new 7-story building will include 100 units of affordable housing.

Despite opposition from neighbors, the Hyatt Place and Allison Residences appears to be heading towards approval*, reports the Daily Journal of Commerce.

The Design Commission has approved plans by the Portland Bureau of Transportation and Prosper Portland to renovate the 10th & Yamhill Smartpark Garage. The project is being designed by FFA Architecture and Interiors, and is intended to address ADA and seismic deficiencies  in the existing structure, as well as improve the ground level retail experience.

Portland State University has debuted the Karl Miller Center, the $64 million business school building at the heart of their campus, writes the Oregonian.

The Portland Business Journal took a first look at Under Armour’s new Portland office at 2815 SW Babur Blvd.

Prosper Portland (formerly the Portland Development Commission) is looking for applicants for its affordable commercial space, writes the Business Tribune. Space is being offered at the Alberta Commons at NE MLK and Alberta, at Oliver Station at 9202 SE Foster Rd, at 9101 SE Foster and at the 10th & Yamhill Smart Park.

The DJC reported that Multnomah County is eyeing the Walnut Park site at 5329 N.E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd for redevelopment.* A preferred alternative calls for “94 market-rate apartments, 50 affordable apartments for seniors, 14 townhomes, a food hall, county services and a single floor of underground parking”.

The Willamette Week wrote about the latest fight over a changing Portland: the fate of Peterson’s on Morrison, which is likely to be displaced by the refurbishment of the 10th & Yamhill Smart Park.

The city has finalized the sale of Terminal One to Lithia Motors, according to the Oregonian.

The Central City is prepping for major growth, writes the Portland Tribune. The first City Council hearing on the Central City 2035 plan will happen this Thursday.

Weekly Roundup: Beatrice Morrow, Ankeny Apartments, Grove Hotel, and more

The Beatrice Morrow Apartments will include 80 affordable housing units, offered under the city’s preference policy to those displaced from N/NE Portland.

The Oregonian wrote about the affordable housing planned for the former Grant Warehouse site on NE MLK. The building will be named the Beatrice Morrow, after the African American attorney who ran for state office in 1932.

The Willamette Week wrote about Home First Development’s plans to build 300 apartments and sell them to the city for $100,000 apiece.

The DJC wrote about how the Portland Development Commission is “driving ahead to expand parking stock“*, with investments totaling tens of millions of dollars planned at Old Town Chinatown Block 33, the Convention Center Hotel and at the 10th & Yamhill Smart Park.

The Portland Business Journal reported that the City Council and PDC have chosen to move forward with a full redevelopment of the Centennial Mills site. As a consequence, the Mounted Patrol Unit will not return to the site.
